Feast Day of St. Monica ~ August 27th

Image
St. Monica was one of the most wonderful mothers of all time. She persisted in prayer for her son Augustine, knowing that God would help him find his way back to the Church. Today may we intercede for all mothers so that they may learn to draw their children to God as well as to pray for all of God’s people who have left the Church as they hear God’s invitation to come home.

Texting Scams in my name (Fr. Daniel). I am not requesting any gift cards.

Image
I have been receiving calls all morning about a texting scam that is going out in my name (and in the Bishop's name and in the name of Fr. Bob Lariviere in Auburn) requesting that you respond.  They will ask for gift cards.  IT IS A SCAM.  Please do not respond!  Notice that the phone number is not a 207 area code.  I would not ask for gift cards or anything over text or email. I am sorry that this is happening and I am not sure where they are getting all the priests' numbers and your contact information.  The diocese thinks it is the bulletin when you put your cell phone number in the bulletin.   Thanks,  Fr Daniel

Fr. Daniels Weekly Letter to his Parishioners

Image
Dear Parishioners, One of my goals here in the parish is to make the Basilica a wonderful place of devotion and prayer. It is already an amazing building but it is more valuable as a place to pray to God! In the basement, the Pieta was in the hall by the back exit door. We had a very generous person pay to move it upstairs and I would like to put some kneelers around it for private prayer. I think the suffering of the Blessed Mother is important for the spirituality of many mothers (and fathers) today given everything that is going on. Please consider taking some time in prayer to Jesus through the suffering mother. This was originally at the St. Patrick’s Chapel and so we thank all our parishioners from the former St. Patrick’s Church for this beautiful devotion. I hope to talk more about it in the future. I hope that more of you have downloaded the Parish App. I would like to add to it on a regular basis so that it becomes a complete resource for you...
